The Exchange Club of Madison is part of a national network of volunteers serving Connecticut and the greater Madison-Guilford area through established programs of service in Americanism, Community Service, Youth Activities, and their national project, the Prevention of Child Abuse. All proceeds from the Leprechaun 5 miler went to benefit the fight against Child Abuse and service program.

(Clarity) announced today the launch of its SBC solution to help health plans manage the Affordable Care Act requirement that mandates the creation of a uniform summary of benefits and coverage. Clarity is the cutting edge provider of on demand services supporting customized communications for the healthcare industry. Under section 2715 of the Public Health Service Act, created by section 1001 of the Affordable Care Act and implemented in the new rules, health insurers and group health plans will have to provide uniform information about health plan benefits and coverage through a Summary of Benefits and Coverage (“SBC”) and a list of definitions (called the “Uniform Glossary”) that explains terms commonly used in health insurance coverage such as “deductible” and “co-payment”.

Clarity Launches Mobile ID Cards For Providence Health Plan

Guilford, CT (August 31, 2011) – Providence Health Plan, working with Clarity Software Solutions, has launched its first smartphone app with the introduction of the mobile ID card app now available for iPhone, Android and Blackberry smartphones. Members can now access a current, electronic version of their member identification card at any time on a mobile device.

The new app allows members to view an image of their member identification card for display at a provider’s office. The card image also can be emailed or faxed directly to the provider. Electronic ID cards are also available for anyone else on the member’s policy, including a spouse and/or dependents.

“We recognize that smartphones and other mobile technologies are changing the way we interact with members,” says Barbara Christensen, chief sales and marketing officer for Providence Health Plan. “We continue to seek additional opportunities to ease the way for members and all patients who utilize Providence services.”

The smartphone app is available for all Providence Health Plan members, including members with employer-group coverage, individual and family, Medicare and Medicaid members.

To protect members’ security, the app requires the member identification number and a separate personal identification number, or PIN, to initially login to the app. In addition, providers will still require picture ID when receiving health care services and determine eligibility of plan benefits.
